Electric Circuit Game: Operation is a three-visit project of 60 or 75 minutes for grades 7 to 9. Students build their own electric game, from the buzzer all the way to the integrated circuit.
The first visit explains the difference between series and parallel circuits; the next two are for building the Operation game, then finishing it. Students use the parts of a simple electrical circuit: wire, power source, bulb and buzzer.
From the biggest to the smallest, the mysteries of electricity will be revealed…
In this project, young electronics experts build a simple electric game, going from the buzzer all the way to the integrated circuit!
They start by learning the difference between series and parallel circuits.
You will be impressed to see them build their own games.
Electronic components will hold no more secrets for them!
How it runs:
Visit 1: Electrical circuits (60 or 75 minutes).
Visit 2: Building the Operation game (60 or 75 minutes).
Visit 3: Finishing the Operation game (60 or 75 minutes).
Learning goals (elementary)
- Use the parts of a simple circuit (wire, power source, bulb, switch) to build an electric game from a wire hanger and a piece of cardboard.
- Understand how series, parallel, closed and open circuits work and what they are used for.
- Read diagrams that use symbols.
- Think through mistakes to find their cause.
