For schools

French educational activities for BC schools

Science is one of the best reasons to speak French. Profaqua brings hands-on activities to Francophone, French Immersion and Core French classrooms across British Columbia, ready to run, from kindergarten to grade 12.

Why BC schools invite Profaqua back

Fully turnkey

We bring the materials, run the activity and leave the classroom clean. Teachers simply enjoy the experience with their students.

Every student takes part

One student becomes the lab-coated science assistant. The rest of the class predicts, tests and solves challenges in teams.

Tied to the BC curriculum

Each activity is designed in connection with BC learning standards and adapted to what your class has already covered.

K to 12

The catalogue covers kindergarten to grade 12: 41 workshops for primary, 26 for intermediate and 14 for secondary grades.

Across the province

Based in New Westminster, we tour Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, the Sunshine Coast, Sea to Sky and Northern BC every year.

Follow-up included

After each workshop, teachers receive activity sheets to consolidate what students discovered.

What a Profaqua visit looks like

Our facilitator arrives with all the materials. At the start, one student becomes the science assistant and wears the Profaqua lab coat. Before each experiment, students share what they know and make a hypothesis together, then they test it hands-on, in teams or at stations depending on the topic.

A workshop lasts 60, 75 or 90 minutes and costs from $205 per class, with a minimum of two classes per day. A project runs over at least two visits, from $400 per class. A science show gathers several classes, from $1,000. After each workshop, teachers receive activity sheets to consolidate what students discovered.

Which schools does Profaqua work with?

Francophone schools (CSF) and English-language schools offering French Immersion or Core French, as well as day camps and community organizations across British Columbia.

Can an activity be adapted to our unit?

Yes. Each activity can serve as a hook to launch a new topic or as a way to deepen one your class has already studied. Tell us what your students have covered when you ask for a quote.

How many classes do we need to book?

Classroom workshop and project rates are based on a minimum of two classes per day. Pro-D days, shows and events have their own packages.

Do you come to schools outside Greater Vancouver?

Yes, through our regional science tours. Booking while we are in your area keeps travel costs down. Classroom projects over several visits are offered in Greater Vancouver.

Are the activities linked to the BC curriculum?

Yes. Our workshops are linked to the BC curriculum, from kindergarten to grade 12, in biology, chemistry, physics, Earth and space science and technology.

What do you need in the classroom?

Usually access to electrical outlets. Some experiments need a sink nearby or a clear space, and robotics needs an interactive whiteboard or a projector to display the robots’ missions.

How quickly do you reply to a quote request?

Within 24 to 72 business hours, with a personalized proposal and no commitment. No booking, payment or commitment is required before you approve it: just send the form on this page.

Can the whole school take part on the same day?

Yes. A science show has no minimum or maximum number of students, and a Pro-D day combines an opening show, workshops in small groups and a grand finale, with packages from $430.

Is everything led in French?

Yes. Every Profaqua activity is led in French. For French Immersion and Core French classes, the facilitator adapts the pace and vocabulary and relies on visual demonstrations so that every student can follow.
