Science shows

Science shows for BC schools

This is more than a show. For an hour, your gym becomes a spectacular lab, and your students become the stars: they come on stage, take on challenges and make the experiments happen in front of their classmates.

Students don’t watch. They take the stage.

For more than 25 years, Profaqua has presented interactive science shows that amaze young people from kindergarten to grade 12. Fast-paced, funny and full of surprises, each show turns experiments into moments of discovery, laughter and wonder.

Throughout the show, several students are invited on stage to take part in the experiments and take on challenges in front of their classmates. With contagious energy and a steady rhythm, the show holds everyone’s attention from start to finish, whether it is presented to a single class or to several hundred students.

Each show is adapted to the age of the audience, so every child can understand, participate and be amazed.

Snif. Salut à toute l'équipe Profaqua!

How many students can attend a science show?

There is no minimum or maximum. A show works for a single class as well as for several hundred students in a gym.

Is the show adapted to younger students?

Yes. Each show is adapted to the age of the audience, from kindergarten to grade 12, so everyone can follow and take part.

Can we combine a show with workshops?

Yes. Our Pro-D day packages combine a 60-minute show with two to four workshops. Ask us about a similar format for a school event.

Can a show be funded?

Some schools use PassepART (francophone schools) or Canadian Parents for French (French Immersion and Core French) funding, depending on the program’s criteria. See our funding page.

Can the show take place outdoors?

Yes. The shows can be held indoors or outdoors, with no minimum or maximum number of children. We need a clear space, 15-amp outlets and, indoors, access to the light switches; the science show also needs a sink nearby.

Is the activity entirely in French?

Yes. Every Profaqua activity is led in French. For French Immersion and Core French classes, the facilitator adapts the pace and vocabulary and relies on demonstration.

Which ages is each show for?

The Great Inventor Elf, Halloween: The Science of Fear and In the Footsteps of Great Inventors suit kindergarten to grade 12; Magic or Science? is for kindergarten to grade 6. In every show, the facilitator picks assistants from the audience for experiments adapted to each age group.

How much does a science show cost?

A 60-minute science show costs from $1,000; two shows the same day from $1,800, three from $2,700 and four from $3,500. The magic and science show costs from $800, $1,500 for two, $2,200 for three and $3,100 for four. Travel, GST and PST are extra.

Which show fits Halloween or the holidays?

Halloween: The Science of Fear welcomes students in a haunted-house setting with sound and lights, with dry-ice potions at −78 °C and a giant Van de Graaff generator. For December, the Great Inventor Elf presents the great minds whose discoveries changed the way we celebrate Christmas.
