Who we are
Profaqua inc. offers science workshops, projects, shows, camps and activities in French to schools, camps and families across British Columbia. Its head office is at 3303-900 Carnarvon Street, New Westminster, BC V3M 0K9.
As a private BC business, Profaqua inc. is governed by the province’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Activities offered in Quebec are run by a separate company, Profaqua QC inc., which has its own policy.
The information we collect
We collect only the information we need, directly from you:
- Quote or information requests: name, email, phone, school or organization, program, activity, grades, number of groups, dates and message.
- Newsletter: your email and, if you tell us, whether you are a teacher, principal or parent.
- Job applications: the information in your email and résumé.
- Billing: contact details of the school, organization or person being invoiced.
- Activities: information needed for a group’s safety, such as an allergy, when a school, camp or parent shares it with us.
Why we use it
- To answer your questions and prepare a quote.
- To plan, deliver and invoice booked activities.
- To send you the newsletter, if you subscribed.
- To review applications for open positions.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use it for other purposes without your consent, unless the law allows or requires it.
Who we share it with
Your information may be handled by service providers that help us run our services: website hosting, email, newsletter delivery and accounting. They access only what they need and must keep it confidential.
When a funding program pays for part of an activity, we give that program what it needs to process the invoice, such as the school’s name and the activity’s date and cost.
Some providers may store data outside Canada. That data is then subject to the laws of the country where it is stored.

- Necessary: remember your cookie choice and keep the site secure. Always on.
- Audience measurement: learn anonymously which pages are visited, to improve the site. Used only with your consent.
- Videos and social media: our videos are published on Facebook. Facebook’s player, which sets its own cookies, loads only when you start a video and accept it.
Third-party sites
This site links to other sites, such as our Google Business Profile, our Facebook page and the websites of funding programs. Those sites have their own policies, which we encourage you to read.
Retention and security
We keep your information as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for, or longer when the law requires it, for example for tax records. It is then securely destroyed.
We take reasonable measures to protect it against loss and unauthorized access, modification or disclosure. Only people who need it for their work can access it. If an incident affects your information, we will notify you as soon as possible.
Your rights
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent to its use (for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter), or ask any question about our practices. We respond within the time limits set by law.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Young people
Our activities are for young people, but our forms are meant for adults: teachers, principals, parents and organizations. A parent who believes a child has sent us information can write to us to have it deleted.
