Your APÉ: a partner for your school’s science projects
Parents’ associations (associations de parents d’élèves, or APÉ) play a vital role in BC’s francophone schools. They let parents get involved in school and community life and support initiatives that contribute to students’ well-being and success, including a science show, a workshop or a family science night.

Why work with your APÉ?
Depending on its structure and the funding programs available, an APÉ can support a student activity financially, help plan a project, mobilize parents and the school community, and work with the school and an outside provider. Parents’ associations can also take charge of some projects and manage their own budget according to their mandate and rules.
Depending on the project, the APÉ can contribute funding or act as the partner organization for a grant application when the program allows it, notably for PassepART and some other programs, according to their criteria. Each program has its own requirements, so check the eligibility of your APÉ and project first.

A quote for your request: Your APÉ
Profaqua sends you a detailed quote and a description of the activity, ready to attach to your funding request.
No booking, payment or commitment is required before you approve the proposal.
Can our APÉ apply to PassepART?
PassepART applications are submitted by an eligible non-profit organization. Your APÉ can be that partner if it meets PassepART’s criteria; confirm its eligibility with PassepART before you start.
Can the APÉ pay only part of the activity?
Yes. An APÉ can fund part of an activity alongside another program or the school’s budget. Tell us who pays what when you book.
Is the activity entirely in French?
Yes. Every Profaqua activity is led in French, which is what francophone schools and the programs that fund them expect.
Who can help our APÉ with its procedures?
The Fédération des parents francophones de C.-B. supports parents’ associations with guidance, training and resources. Profaqua helps with everything that describes the activity.
Can an APÉ run a project with its own budget?
Yes. Depending on its mandate and rules, an APÉ can take charge of some projects and manage its own budget, or be the partner of a funding application when the program allows it.
Can our APÉ be the partner of a Vice-Versa project?
Yes, if it is eligible. A Vice-Versa application comes from a Canadian non-profit that partners with one or more eligible schools, such as a community organization or an eligible APÉ, with Profaqua as the activity provider.
Can Profaqua be the applicant instead of the APÉ?
No. Profaqua is an incorporated company. Programs that require a non-profit applicant, such as PassepART and Vice-Versa, are submitted by your APÉ or another eligible non-profit, with Profaqua as the activity provider, which prepares the quote and the description of the activity.
Can an APÉ use Canadian Parents for French?
No. CPF’s Culture in the Classroom program is for public schools offering French Immersion or Core French, and the request comes from the school itself.
Which programs can an APÉ use for a Profaqua activity?
PassepART, when the APÉ meets its criteria as a non-profit applicant, and some other programs depending on their eligibility rules. Each program has its own requirements, so check them before counting on the funding.
