FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything teachers, principals and parents ask us most often. Can’t find your answer? Write to us and we will reply quickly.
What grades does Profaqua serve?
Profaqua offers science and robotics activities from kindergarten to grade 12.
Are Profaqua activities offered entirely in French?
Yes. Profaqua offers science activities in French to francophone schools and to schools offering French Immersion and Core French programs. See our pages for francophone schools, French Immersion and Core French.
What kinds of science activities do you offer?
More than 55 science workshops, as well as classroom science projects, science shows, after-school activities, robotics, outdoor activities and workshops connected to First Peoples. Browse the catalogue.
Can workshops be adapted to our students’ level?
Yes. Each workshop can be adapted to the students’ learning level and to what has already been covered in class. The activity can be a hook to introduce a new concept or a way to deepen a topic already studied.
How much does a Profaqua activity cost?
Prices vary with the type of activity, its length, the number of groups and the school’s location. Classroom workshops start at $205 per class. See our pricing page or contact us for a quote.
Does Profaqua travel throughout British Columbia?
Yes. Profaqua travels to different regions of British Columbia, notably during its science tours.
How many students can take part in a workshop?
The maximum number of participants depends on the activity. Some activities are designed for one class, others can welcome larger groups, such as science shows.
How far ahead should we book?
We recommend contacting us as early as possible to check availability and plan the activity around your school’s needs.
Are activities linked to the BC curriculum?
Yes. Profaqua activities are designed in connection with the BC curriculum and can be adapted to the learning goals set by the teacher.
What technical or material needs should we plan for?
It depends on the activity: a sink nearby for chemistry workshops, electrical outlets for robotics and circuits, an interactive whiteboard or projector for some projects, and a clear space for shows. We confirm everything when you book.
Is funding available to organize a Profaqua activity?
Yes. Some schools have access to funding sources or partnerships that can help pay for an activity. See our funding section or contact us to discuss your project.
Our school offers French Immersion or Core French. Which funding applies?
Start with Canadian Parents for French: up to $1,000 per visit, plus up to $200 for travel, for an activity entirely in French. Your PAC can add to it, and its Community Gaming Grant can pay for a science show or an after-school club.
We are a francophone (CSF) school. Which funding applies?
Look at PassepART ($1,500 per school per year for a project with a cultural or heritage dimension), Vice-Versa ($1,500 per school per project built with students) and your APÉ, which can fund an activity or partner on an application.
Can our PAC’s Gaming Grant pay for a classroom workshop?
No. Gaming Grants fund extracurricular opportunities, such as a science show for all students or an after-school club, not curriculum-based activities. More on PAC funding.
When are the funding deadlines?
PassepART: February 12, 2027. PAC Gaming Grants: April 1 to June 30 each year. Vice-Versa: projects held between August 25, 2026 and June 30, 2027. See the 2026-2027 funding calendar.
How do we book an activity?
Just contact us with your school, the type of activity you want, the students’ grade, the number of groups and the period you have in mind. We will then help you choose the activity that best meets your needs. Request a quote.
