At a glance
In the Footsteps of Great Inventors is a 60-minute interactive show for kindergarten to grade 12 about the great minds who changed the world. For each demonstration, the facilitator picks an assistant among the students.
On stage: static electricity with a 735 kV Van de Graaff generator, exploding capacitors, balloons popped from 10 metres away by a laser, air pressure, a fizzing chemical reaction, how an LED works and Nikola Tesla’s electromagnetic field. The experiments are adapted to every age group, and the show suits one class or the whole school, with no minimum or maximum number of students.
The next Albert Einstein may be hiding among your young scientists!
For each demonstration, our facilitator picks an assistant from the audience to help with experiments adapted to every age group.
Meet the great minds who changed the world, in an interactive show that brings some of their greatest discoveries to the stage.
On the program:
- Static electricity with Robert Van de Graaff’s 735 kV generator.
- Two exploding capacitors, after Pieter van Musschenbroek.
- Balloons popped from 10 metres away with Theodore Maiman’s laser.
- Daniel Bernoulli and the power of air pressure.
- A fizzing, heat-releasing chemical reaction from Thénard.
- The LED (light-emitting diode) explained, after Nick Holonyak.
- Nikola Tesla’s electromagnetic field challenge.
- And much more…
Hair standing on end, popping balloons, sparks and elephant toothpaste will dazzle the young helpers who take part in every experiment.
A mix of science and fun that wins everyone over!
